Course Overview : This is a custom designed course specially for a beginner. Various other training modules on oracle are only provided after a candidate has undergone the elementary O level training course. We also provide online assistance to all students on go4oracle.com upto 3 months post completions of training on forum of Go4oracle.com. we spend most of the time with practical examples with an inclination towards projects development and this is possible as we have vast industrial experience in developing and implementing projects on oracle platform.
Course duration  Four days with 2 sessions of 90 minutes with a break of 30 Minutes in between the session
Objectives The aim of this course is to provide the delegate with the necessary skills to understand and perform simple and complex queries using SQL*Plus. On completion of this course the student will be:

  • Aware of various Objects Used In Oracle
  • Various Data types and domain constraints available when defining Oracle columns
  • Sql Statements and various operations
  • Importance of an Index for certain queries
  • use SQL*Plus
  • Working With Relational database Using Multiple Tables/Views
  • Join Operations
  • Query Writing
  • Understanding and use of oracle Functions, Operators and sql expressions
  • Ad Hoc report Generation Using SQLPLUS Commands and Query

WORKSHOP DETAILS

DAY 1. INTRODUCTION WITH OVERVIEW

Introduction & Overview
: Introduction to oracle and it various programming tools. Overview of objects in oracle with examples for how to create and work with different objects of oracle. Following objects will be used with examples in the oracle workshop


TABLES : What is Table ,Create Tables, Modifying  Tables, Dropping Tables, Domain Constraints, Integrity Constraints, Table Constraints, Copying Tables, Renaming Columns In tables, various data types, Limitation with data types.

VIEWS : What is a view Creating Views, Altering views, Advantages of View, Limitation Of Views, Implicit View, Dropping a view, Creating Forced View.
The Views will be covered again while working with Queries.

INDEXES : What are index, Advantages of Indexes, Disadvantages of index, Create Index, Drop Index

SYNONYMS : What are synonym, Create Synonym, Different types of Synonym, Dropping a synonym

SEQUENCE : What are sequences, when are sequence used, how to use a sequence, create sequence, drop sequence, alter sequence.

SQL DDL command (CREATE objects command) with be covered partly while working with the objects as how to create the above objects

Question answer session : QA session involved answering questions raised by attendies of the workshop

DAY 2 – SQL COMMANDS

 DDL : Working with the ALTER commands to modify the objects mainly tables will be covered in this section of workshop.

DML :
Writing DML (Data Manipulation Language) Statements. Delete single records, Delete all records, Conditional delete for multiple records, Delete records using a query, Insert Statement, Different ways of writing insert statement, Insert Single Records, Insert Multiple Records, Update all records, Conditional update, Update using multiple values, Updating multiple columns.

DCL :
Data Control Language working with covering grant and revoke statements

TCL :
transaction Control Language, Transactions, Commit Statement, Rollback Statement, generating single Savepoint, Using Rollback with savepoint, generating multiple savepoint.

QUERY WRITING : Query Writing, Join Operation, Different types of Join Operation, Simple Query, Nested Query. Query writing will be practiced with use of functions, operators and expression in an sql statements

OPERATORS : All these operators to be covered with practical examples Arithmetic, Operators, Character Operation, Comparison Operator, Concatenation operators, Logical operators, Assignment Operator(this is covered with PLSQL),Set Operator. Working with operator is a part of query writing

EXPRESSION Creating expression, Working with different expression in select statement

DAY 3 - FUNCTIONS

Character Functions Character Functions are studies if two different categories
(a) Character function which returns character value to be covered practically with examples Chr, Concat, Initcap, Lower, Lpad, Ltrim, Rpad, Rtrim, Substr, Upper 

(b) Character function which returns number value to be covered practically with examples Ascii, Instr, Length 
Number Function : Some of the number function to be covered practically with examples Abs, Ceil, Exp, Floor, Log, Mod, Power, Round, Sqrt, Trunc  number functions
Date Functions Some of the date functions to be covered practically with examples Add_Months, Last_Day,  Months_Between , Next_Day,Round ,Sysdate
Conversion Functions  Some of the conversion functions to be covered with practical examples are TO_char (date conversion), To_Char (number conversion), To_Date ,To_Number

Aggregate Functions : Covering all Group Functions, Min ,Max, Avg, Sum, Count, Var, Stddev

Other Functions Some of the functions which are not categorized in number, date, character functions and is covered with practical examples are GREATEST, LEAST , NVL, UID, USER,DECODE

  • SQLPLUS COMMANDS
  • REPORT GENERATION USING SQLPLUS COMMAND

  • SQL*Plus is a command line SQL and PL/SQL language interface and reporting tool that ships with the Oracle Database Client and Server software. It can be used interactively or driven from scripts. SQL*Plus is frequently used by DBA and Developers to interact with the Oracle database.
