Introduction to Programme: Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) is a systematic approach to understanding the equipment's function, equipment's relationship to product quality and likely cause and frequency of failure of the critical equipment component.
TPM is a partnership between the maintenance and production of the organization to improve product quality, reduce waste, reduce cost, increase equipment availability and improve maintenance state. The goal of the TPM program is to markedly increase production while, at the same time, increasing employee morale and job satisfaction.
TPM uses the approach of maintaining perfect machine and tooling conditions and prevention occurrence of defect by periodic measurements and verification of standards. This is achieved through reorganization and elimination of 16 major losses.
